Description
Street lights throughout the city -- main streets and minor -- need to be changed to provide adequate light. Obviously they were changed for the noble purposes of saving money and energy, but the current lights make it more difficult for drivers to spot walkers and bicyclists at night and for walkers to spot people who would harm them. This is an important "quality of life" issue, as well as an economic one: How much would the city save if it had to defend against lawsuits from the unwitting collision of driver and victim?

Neither of these is a good choice. The only appropriate way to deal with this is for the city to install street lights that provide adequate illumination - not this soft pink light.
Can someone either give us a date when bulbs will start being replaced -- or a good reason why this isn't happening?

I agree that pedestrian lighting is really important to creating a healthier and more efficient city. There are a number of other posts about pedestrian-scaled lighting in New Haven on SeeClickFix, and also requests have been made by neighborhoods and business districts all across the city.
Please contact newhavensafestreets at gmail.com if you'd like to volunteer to work on a campaign to coordinate these efforts.
