This is a chronic issue since the bike lanes were put in. When the road was 4 lanes, the street was plowed to the curb. Now that there are 3 travel lanes, the bike lanes seem to be used for snow storage to the point that they're now glaciers. DPW will probably need heavy equipment like a front end loader to remove some of the huge glaciers between 127 and the High School.

Let’s reevaluate the bike lanes on North Ave. The current bike lanes were designed as shoulders and for drainage and not as bike lanes - especially in the winter. This is a retro fit that isn’t working.

the configuration is a net positive change for everyone. as backed up by police data in the latest city annual report. the drainage needs to be fixed, not the lanes. fortunately the whole street is up for a complete repave soon and hopefully the contractor will be held to a higher standard for the grading and drainage than the last time through.

@ Clean up... the bike lanes were not shoulders, they were general purpose lanes that were always cleared.

Clean Up My Hood! the drainage issues pre-date the bike lanes. A critical difference being that now people can walk on the sidewalks without getting inundated with road spray from drivers who don't care. I've literally had to walk there with my umbrella held sideways. Thankfully that's not the case anymore!

P.s., in VT all shoulders are De Jure bikelanes when folks riding bikes choose to use them.

Saw the crews out today. It was good progress and the section that was done looks great, thank you! Unfortunately it stopped just past 127 instead of going all the way to BHS.

Oops, I jumped the gun on closing that one! We planned to finish that stretch today, but crews were out overnight. We plan to address this tomorrow.
