  An individual is camping at this same location tonight. Please ask BDP to do a sweep of Live Oak park at dusk - I have seen individuals camp in the park at this and multiple other locations.

  Someone is back at the same spot at the SE corner of the Shattuck Street Bridge over Codornices. Could BPD do a sweep of this park at end of day, say once a week, to disrupt such persistent and illegal use?

  I saw three individuals camping in LOP as of early this morning: one at the bridge, and two on the basketball court. I request a 311 response one way or the other whether BPD has been asked to do a sweep at night to stop this pattern of illegal behavior.

  I’ve been calling BPD after 10pm to report this. Yesterday, someone was sleeping on the sidewalk, obstructing access to the park entrance on Walnut. I also think we need to be emailing Sophie Hahn, our councilmember. It’s getting absurd. Why even have a park if it’s not maintained or accessible?

  Did BPD dispatch say that they would send a patrol out? I have concluded that BPD has not responded to such calls, because they believe the City Council does not support enforcement of the camping prohibition in City parks. I will forward this string to Sophie.

  They did come out I think, but I bet the people just moved to the tennis court and bridge. I am calling her office today as well. We have to mobilize as a community. It’s also bad because of the public restroom by the tennis courts. There have been vans with people sleeping in them parked on Shattuck and walnut for weeks on end, needles by the playground, drug paraphernalia on the grass where kids and dogs play. It’s time for us to step up and preserve live oak park.

  I think BPD did come out, but those people probably just moved somewhere else in the park. The other issue is the public restroom by the tennis court. It’s why there are so many more RVs around the park. I’ve found drug paraphernalia on the playground and sidewalk.

  Is the LOP restroom open 24/7? That is wrong, as the park is closed to public use after 10 pm. If the restroom is open, that is an invitation to camping and adjacent parking.

  I agree. I’m sure it’s not allowed, but that’s not stopping people.
