Description

This morning I saw four scooters in the lake, and this is only in a small section. There is also a disturbing amount of litter in and around the lake. Additionally, the trash cans are all full and debris is piled next to them. Ideally, the lake and surrounding areas should be cleaned every day. At the very least this should be done several times a week. This is a Wildlife Sanctuary and a local and regional treasure. It is disgraceful at how poorly the lake and areas are maintained. Between Public Works and Parks and Recreation, the City should be able to properly maintain it. Instead of having staff use leaf blowers and rakes and do basic gardening, they should be cleaning the areas, removing trash, and emptying garbage cans. Gardening could be done by volunteers. Also, the City should get more Big Belly garbage and recycling containers and replace the ones there which are easily tipped over and otherwise disturbed.
