The asphalt on the west side of the tracks where the greenway crosses has heaved over the winter, making this angled crossing even more sketchy than it was before. Ideally, asphalt should be ground down to level so the surface is more even. Might also want to work with the rail company to install industrial rubber inserts at this crossing location to avoid crashes in the future. Track crossing warning signs might also help tourists who frequently crash here who are not used to biking this section.

Thank you for reporting this issue. Due to winter conditions and the freeze/thaw cycle that Burlington experiences, it is typical for pavement to "heave" in the winter. As temperatures continue to rise, you should see the pavement go down in these areas. Unfortunately, we are unable to do pavement work/repairs in the areas directly adjacent to the railroad, as the railroad manages that land.
The Department of Public Works has resolved this request. Thanks for helping to keep Burlington a great place to live and work.
