Justine assigned this issue to Planning Division

Interesting, to see what happens here, as we are currently trying to abate a shipping container that was dropped at 31 Ohio. I visited the planning division and they do not handle this type of issue, and that’s according to them. Even had the City attorney look at it and was concluded it is a Code Enforcement issue. I am waiting for a response to my questions about how this has remained unresolved for 2 years. It obviously fits all the criteria for blight, yet there is no department willing to own the issue, and evidently no specific code to address it.

Maybe the City Council could.... ha, ha, ha, sorry, just joking.

So, I guess we can expect the same passive-aggressive response to these hulks as the one on Ohio Street.

Looks like you can expect even less, especially since no one from the building division monitors this site and when things are forwarded to them they are not acknowledged or received. Great job again Justine, thanks so much.
Or why don’t you just take the advice from code enforcement
,planning division and building division, and don’t worry about it because there are no codes to prevent you from dropping a shipping container anywhere in the city evidently.

Raising a petition to rename this site See.Click.Spike.

Just been reminded by SCF that nothing has been done about this issue. I'll try to remember that when I next hear about government efforts to limit social media. In Vallejo, at least, social media's (SCF) bots seems to be as stronger voice for democracy than our government.

Nothing forwarded from SCF to Building or Planning Divisions gets received or acknowledged. If I was still interested in going to their offices, I would ask to see if they pay any attention to correspondence and how it’s sent to them. But after several nonproductive visits with no resolutions, I gave up. Basically I was told there is no code or restrictions on shipping containers, if on an empty lot. Although, it seems unlikely to me that you can just drop a shipping container anywhere and some code probably covers this type of issue.

Gee, three months already. Thanks for reminding me, SCF. Did you also send a reminder to the Planning Department?

Hah, here is today with the same trashy RV back to dump more junk. And neither code enforcement, planning division, building division, or the city attorney seem to be able to find any codes to mitigate just dropping a shipping container anywhere you want in this town. Believe me I walked in and talked to all of them personally at their counter in City Hall. It’s up to us to find the magic code that’s so elusive.

Four months and nothing done about either the campers or the shipping containers, but please don't blame the planning department. They don't care because they're not required to. The City Manager figures that presiding over a do-nothing City Hall will save him from being fired as he was on his last job (no, sorry, he wasn't fired; his last city declined to renew his contract). And our "representatives on the City Council? Just look at the See.Click.Fix issues that get reported over and over, and never get fixed, and you'll see who's friends they are.

So now it's been 10 months, and the shipping containers are still there, yes!

But also -- look at that photograph -- the same full-time occupied camper van is still at that same spot on the dead-end stub of Branciforte Street. Apparently occupied by the same family -- including small children.

I guess if they stay the same spot for long enough, then they formally become Vallejo Residents, and -- as Vallejo Residents -- they are entitled to the same discourtesy and lack of respect as the rest of us poor slobs from those "highest paid public servants in the nation" the city keeps boasting about!

Planning Division has no plan or recourse to mitigate shipping containers and do not have a presence on SCF. Wasted time and effort, closing.
