I think I would have stopped and assisted this child to the side of the road and confiscated the dirt bike myself, waiting for police to arrive to officially confiscate it. (Just like if I saw a 2 yo walking in the street by himself, I would pull over and make sure he was safe.)

I do not think the "no chase" policy would apply in this case, as I am guessing I could run fast enough to catch a 6yo on a mini dirt bike!

As most of New Haven at this point, this section of Blake is gang territory. The child here is probably born into a gang family. As you see above, Big Tim is posting threats to anyone who might wish to help this child. Tim calls it "harrassing" the child, which should shed some light on his mentality. Now perhaps you understand why I did not stop to assist? If I see this again, though, I will do what Loyo suggested and make a call from my cell phone immediately (upon pulling over, of course).

No one is making threats bjg. Your mentality is nothing but gangland. Yes this child may be born into gang family. And thats the point im tryig to come across. Are you really trying to get involved with a gang members child? Is it really worth it? Are you a cop? No. So leave it to real law enforcement to deal with it. In the ghetto there exists the "no snitch" policy to which I do not prescribe.. As I said, if I see this again, I will call the NHPD, and they will call DCF. I do not have to be a cop in order to show concern for a child at risk. If we all showed concern, these kinds of things would never happen.

Re-openong this, as dirt bikes are a current problem in New Haven and the NHPD has been working hard to address this issue. If anyone knows the address where the child or the dirt bike is located (presumably the same), please post it here. Thanks!

SCF, please do not delete Saul's comment, as I want to make an example of it. In our current ultra liberal, politically correct culture, there are two ways that people attempt to shut someone up. 1. Call them racist (some white liberals' entire existences are based upon being seen as non-racist, so this usually works), or 2. Call them trolls (this is just another way to take focus away from a real issue by attempting to place heated attention on a person who has different values and opinions from their own). Here, I am being called both, which tells me that I am being EFFECTIVE. Additionally, posters bemoaning the fact that I watch marathons of Gangland on Spike TV - Fridays, btw - is another way that I know that I am gaining valid, useful information. As Kermit Carolina has asserted, street gangs of NH are nothing more than terrorists running under the radar. By making the problem known to all residents, I am doing the BAD, BAD thing - informing others. So I will keep informing myself and others. That is how one makes a difference in the world.

This issue, #579366, is about someone who spotted yet another dirt bike, (albeit being operated by a very young person) and the issues surrounding dirt bike use and also safety, especially in light of the NHPD's recent crackdown. I am closing this issue because of a prompting SCF email, but if I see this child, or any other child engaging in this type of activity which puts their lives in danger, I will call the NHPD immediately upon witnessing such activity.
