More details: issue is red light on whitesburg while no traffic is coming from Martin/Vincent. Light is red for a long amount of time and creates traffic.

Another note for Huntsville traffic signals in general. All signals need to have different timings late at night. Some are like that, but some are not. If it’s too big of a deal to reprogram them all, follow the city of Madison and just put them on flashing yellow/red.

Where I grew up MANY of the lights went to red/yellow flashing at 10pm. It was wonderful, efficient, and smart traffic control. Too many lights around HSV are on a set pattern and never change, wasting lots of time and fuel for the thousands of vehicles sitting at them every day, week, month, etc. I think the lights at Caldwell Lane/431, Old Big Cove/431, and the others between there and downtown should go to flashing around 8pm. The cross traffic at those places is almost nonexistent and even if a single vehicle comes and wants to get out, there is no reason to stop the main flow on 431 for that one or two vehicles.

Thank you for contacting the City of Huntsville - Traffic Engineering. The intersection is under heavy construction and the in roadway sensors have been damaged. This will remain in affect until the new roadway is completed. Steps have been taken to mitigate the intersection timings but some delay will remain throughout the remainder of the project.

Hmmmm...When this was reported I don't believe there was any construction. Where can we find info about the construction and what it is for? Is it to fix the debacle that was created when the entrance to the new school was put on Martin road, thus blocking the right turn lane from Whitesburg?? That would be great!
