BportReport, you're absolutely right in your reading of the law, but you're 100% off in your belief that the Bridgeport police care about the law. Residential noise limits for stuff like music is 65DBA day and 55DBA night. But in the real world your neighbors could be pumping out 100+ decibels and the police won't respond unless their boss happens to live on that block.

Actually I was being too generous. I went back and checked the law because it varies based on the zoning of the emitter of the noise and the zoning of the recipient of the noise. For residence-to-residence it's 55DBA day and 45DBA night which is about conversational voice level. Loud music isn't legal for residential areas at any time of the day or night. But it doesn't matter, the police won't do anything.
