I've been walking there almost daily since I moved to the area in 2017. Puzzled by the lack of water even after heavy rains, and concerned for the koi and turtles that make the pond their home.

Thank you for your concern with the pond in West Park. The problem may be linked to a malfunctioning overflow structure. Staff are working hard to fix this issue.

I walk through the park often and I am also very concerned about the receding water level. Given the endless rain we've had, the level should not be so low. Wildlife use this pond and we need to maintain its' health. Please engage the community if you need to.

Has a policy decision been made to lower the water level in the pond? If so, this decision needs to be reversed. The wildlife of the pond is counting on it.

Last year there were many ducklings in this pond with mother ducks. This year I've seen no female mallards and no sign of ducklings. Please help fix quickly!

Thanks for all of the concern about the water levels in the pond at West Park. For the past 3 weeks, the City of Ann Arbor Public Works and Parks Maintenance staff have been working along with the Washtenaw County Water Resources Commissioner’s Office to investigate water levels at the pond in West Park. Inspections of all built infrastructure nearby have been completed, with no obvious issues that would cause a water level drop. Staff continue to evaluate alternative site conditions that may have caused the water level to drop. Alterations to the pond may be made to continue to the investigation. We will let you know when we have determined the cause.

The pond is looking good - water level is up again and it's returning to health. Thanks for involving all parties needed to remedy this situation.
