The Sanitation management has let this property degrade to its present state!! Containers breeding Mosquitoes over grown grass weeds that have turned into small trees fencing that is falling over tarps to hide the view laying on the ground days where the stench coming from the garbage trucks will make you gag!! Dumpsters that should be scrapped just laid about the property. And management that want to be condescending and arrogant in their response. I have emailed the mayors office with no responses!! Told that the Mayor is to busy to speak with me. Welcome to Saint Petersburg!! The shining city

Who is going to oversee the Sanitation department in making sure that this issue is addressed correctly?

This issue has been assigned to a Sanitation Inspector for further investigation.

Thank you for taking the time to bring this to our attention. We were notified late last week that there was a concern with mosquitos. Pinellas County Mosquito Control was out on Friday, today, and will be returning by the end of the week to work specifically in the Sanitation complex. We will continue to work with Pinellas County to reduce future outbreaks. Our crews have worked outside this morning to mend the existing fence screen and we will be installing new screen on some of the sections along 20th avenue in the coming weeks.
The dumpsters stored here are awaiting repair. Our crew was in the container maintenance area this morning, mowing and removing overgrowth and we will continue to keep this area tidy.

Thank you for the response Robert. I have been witnessing the guys working for 10 minutes and then taking a 15 minute break. I guess this is why our taxes continue to rise. The dumpsters are not being repaired but in fact are only rusting away. Today was a good start to why needs to be done here but I hope that you plan to do a lot more. This property has become an eye sore for the local businesses surrounding it

Unbelievable that these dumpsters and recycling bins are uncovered to collect rain water and breed mosquitoes or a hazard to animals possibly children. I would expect the city to be in code compliance!

THE GRASS OUTSIDE THE FENCE IS NOW TORN UP FROM FORK LIFT TRYING TO BEND THE WORN OUT FENCE BACK STRAIGHT AND SANITATION DEPT MUST THINK THAT THIS IS A FINISHED PRODUCT!!! NO BY A LONG SHOT!!!! THE BUSINESS OWNERS ON THIS BLOCK WILL NOT BE HAPPY TILL THE CITY OF ST. PETE CORRECTS THIS UNSIGHTLY JUNKYARD AND GETS RID OF THE HEALTH HAZARD OF THE MOSQUITOES THEY BREEDING ON THEIR PROPERTY!!!! This is how the City operates. The took this overgrown weed that over the years has grown into the fence and hacked it all up to make it look worse than it did before. Why is this weed not being completely removed? Im sure its because then the fence would have to be repaired

What a bunch of dirtbags. They are more than willing to employ codes compliance officers to drive around the city that WE pay their salaries, to fine people for their properties. But when the city is called out, no responsibility is taken or acknowledged. Sounds about right, not sure why we are surprised. They are too “busy” trying to cram more developments in the city, and trying to buy electric scooters for people to use than taking care of their own dump.

I think we should set up a website where we catalog all the calls and issues we have with SPPD so that there is a public record so that it isn't lost in their own system that they can edit and control. I'm a developer so I can set it up but if no one wants to use it then it would be pointless. But when it comes time to go to city council meetings thee would be data to present.

Yes we will be doing the remainder of the fence east of 25th street back to where we left off. We have ordered the screen material and it is to be delivered to us within the next two weeks. We will install the screen as soon as it arrives.

Hello Robert. It's been almost 2 weeks now since you said that the screen material was ordered. Since then some more has been poorly put up but there is still a large section that still needs to be done. Has anyone inspected the work of whoever installed the most recent section on screen material? it was installed on an angle which caused a big overlap at the top. Please send someone out to fix this. I will be posting a picture soon

Update from Sanitation: we continue to make progress toward completing the installation of the fence screen material, and as always we will continue to monitor any other issues related to this property. Thank you for your comments.
