This tree has been dying! for over 2 years. Brown leaves dropping in the middle of the summer is a good clue, thick limbs that break with wind storms is as well. Its a Maple, but the consistency of the wood is like Balsa. I have called the city about this tree on numerous occasions and the only service I get is lip service: promises that someone will come and take care of it. Last promise was that it would be addresses by the 15th of Aug: that came and went, still no restitution. Warning to my neighbors, when it goes its going to take out the cable and internet. Make sure you point your fingers at the city.

Trees like this are all over the city. That's a key reason power was lost last night....the limbs of dying trees come crashing down on power lines a lot more easily then the limbs of healthy trees -- but Albany is virtually bankrupt and doesn't spend nearly enough money on preventive measures. And look at our streets strewn with rubble and damaging cars daily.

If this was on my property, it would have been down from day one: its diseased, its a liability, and its an eye sore: sure to bring my property value down,

I tried to take down a similar tree in front of my house sometime ago and the city refused to let me do it, claiming it's city property and can't be touched except by the city.And the city wouldn't do it. A huge limb from that tree fell in my yard about two weeks ago, could easily have killed someone.

Can't wait to relocate to a city that is better managed. As the capital of the state, this city is an embarrasment.

This situation isn’t unique to Albany. This happens in other communities as well, even those with better tree management programs.

I don't live in "other" communities, or pay taxes to to those. I'm not interested in any program that is not working, we should be focusing on communities that have programs that do work. I live here and I demand the city become better managed. If we settle for the good old status quo, then we would have not fought the Revolutionary War.
