As the property owner at this location, I ask the city to consider actually removing the sidewalk here. There is no crosswalk to cross Gosse Ct to the Miller Center, making this patch of sidewalk that leads to the elementary school field somewhat dangerous. I see children and adults often cut across my front lawn to bypass the crosswalk at that intersection, only to find that the sidewalk ends and they’ve already passed the crosswalk, so they cross the road in front of traffic. As for the gate, it clearly used to be located where this user wants it to be open, but was relocated to be more directly across from the Miller Center and away from my property line. As for the path to James Ave, there’s already a direct path, it’s just on the other side of the street in front of the Miller Center. Pedestrian traffic should be directed to cross Gosse Ct at the intersection for public safety.

Extending the sidewalk and building a proper crosswalk would also be an acceptable solution, however I do not want the gate location moved closer to my property line.

S. Sharp is right to the degree that a sidewalk plan/crossing has to be fully developed. That is within the right of way of the City and we reassigned the issue to DPW for consideration. ~Parks
