Description
There have been too many shootings here. The outside area is also too loud for this neighborhood. This one bar is destroying new haven from the center outwards.
Should we stop eating at Bentara because it is no longer safe?

LaLa - if I had a dollar for every time a New Haven resident said to me that this city is louder than NYC on the major avenues -
It is a city, and residents expect a level of noise. But the level of noise is unheard of in any other community or city - there are over 10,000 residents downtown that have opted to live there and the fact that laws and ordinances are being broken and not enforced is the issue.

Thanks LaLa for your helpful posts. I invite you to come to the next Downtown-Wooster Square Community Management Team meeting. It will be held one week from tonight - January 18th - at 6pm in a meeting room at City Hall. We will be discussing this amongst other Quality of Life and Public Safety issues. I invite you to engage instead of whatever it is you are doing. You can help me and others on the team come up with a viable solution.
The goal is a safe neighborhood in the Downtown for visitors, businesses, and residents to enjoy - not fear. Any help towards that goal is appreciated.

"Center Street Lounge was the source of alleged problems after midnight Sunday morning. Cops arrested two men and seized a loaded CZ52 semi-automatic pistol when responding to a hit and run call in the parking lot next to the club. Hours later a woman showed up at the Hospital of St. Raphael saying someone had struck her in the head with a gun at the club."
Center Street Lounge is applying for a liquor permit to open an additional club in New Haven - if you would like to be a part of the effort to have the commissioner of liquor take a long look at this application, please email the Downtown-Wooster Square Community Management Team at dwscmt@gmail.com -
With 10 letters to the commissioner, we will be able to force a hearing. Please let me know if you are willing to write a letter.

I have sent the remonstrance petition to the state liquor commission, and i have documented the lack of public posting for the new bar - club pulse:
