With the attempted arson that occurred a few weeks ago at the Del Monte building, the city council should elevate this to a higher priority. There are clearly health and safety issues present!

My reply above was an automated reply as I clicked to say thanks. I agree any blight or vandalism on the Del Monte building or property is a health and safety issue. This is because something that looks like an abandoned graffiti covered building encourages arson, squatting, and garbage dumping. I already reported how the Del Monte property along Buena Vista is overgrown with weeds. This could easily become a fire due to either arson or someone walking on the sidewalk along the fence carelessly throwing a cigarette.

Thank you, it is a fire hazard! I’m sure the place is filled with asbestos as well. I believe that Alameda building code enforcers are available on only four days a week and holidays three days or less. I heard you can call our amazing fire department and they will alert the proper people. I have has many a friend and neighbors tell me code enforcement doesn’t return calls. Maybe we need more manpower because this seems to be ongoing issue? Our home taxes are some of the highest in the country and this should be covered!!

The fence enclosing the Del Monte building has a gapping opening at the corner of Buena Vista and Entrance Way. It's an open invitation for anybody to come on the property.
