I don’t blame them. The smell of urine and all the garbage dumped there was unbelievable. Seems like mostly lowlifes fish over there and leave a mess. That right-a-way should be closed off ASAP. Not fair to the condo owners and to the house next to it.
Thank you for reporting this issue to Sarasota County Government. This request will remain active but may be part of a more complex project, or require longer planning or research before it can be completed. We will continue to monitor this concern. If you have further questions or concerns, please call the Contact Center at (941) 861-5000.
Do you mean "part of a more complex project" as in we expect to allow this reduction of public space once you all forget about it? Just tell them to knock down that wall and start fining them daily until they do. Or perhaps the county could sue them to reclaim our public land. Once again, the creeping privatization of our public beach access continues in Sarasota. This is completely unacceptable.
Here’s the deal tho. If Sarasota county or the people that want access to this sea wall are ok with cleaning it up and keeping lowlifes away from it. Then that is great. But the county and whoever has a bug up their, about this, don’t seem to want to clean it and the garbage can is always overflowing with beer bottles and that area smells like dead fish and urine. Why should the homeowner and the condo owner have to deal with that? There is no beach there and only a park bench. County should sell it to the condo and use proceeds to fix up shell beach.
only one space is dedicated at that site.
Its very small, room for a couple of people to sit on the bench. People can walk or bike there. Its essentially very small pocket place. We encourage people to reduce car traffic at a risky spot/curve.
Most off the neighborhood walks down. Park across the street at Church if needed. But know there's not much room for more than 2-3 people at a time.
The issue is that there was a commitment to return it to previous condition. Why would they not be stand up folks and keep their word. That access was there when the condos were built. It is a quiet peaceful water view. Why take that away for the public?
The public parking was given to the contractor during construction on the understanding that it would be restored at the conclusion. We cannot allow the precedent to be set. The county must insist that the commitment is honored.
