What you didn't notice is that Grand Street is going to be ONE WAY. Not sure whether in or out but if you look closely, they removed the yellow line from the middle.
Enjoy the $#!@show in 3...2..

The yellow line will be back, it’s just being moved over. It’s not becoming one-way. There were probably 10 or so public meetings about the Grand Street redesign over the last few years and I was at every one, even as recently as a few weeks ago. The city went out of their way to get feedback and input from residents throughout the process. https://www.nj.com/hudson/2019/10/jersey-city-unveils-plans-for-protected-bike-lanes-on-grand-street.html
I’m so excited for this work to begin!! Long overdue!

This has been discussed for YEARS.

For years the Paulus Hook residents have been complaining about the safety issues associated with the post office trucks, Grand street being used as a truck route and the complete lack of enforcement in Paulus Hook of any of the existing traffic regulations. These issues were raised in this click-fix forum, as input into the "vision zero" discussion and via email when the meetings were held about the bike lanes. The answer was always the same --- there was no answer.
These public comments will at least help the person who winds up getting hurt as the comments will prevent the city from claiming it had no notice of the dangerous condition it has created with the Grand Street bike lane.
