Thanks. When I went by the bench a few days later, I met a lady who lives near there, I think. She said she thought the bench had been damaged by construction equipment when they were repaving part of the trail last week. That seems more likely than vandalism

IF that turns out to the situation (damaged by construction) it speaks to the integrity (or lack of) of the construction company or construction personnel that they walked away when no one was looking.

Company that performed the greenway surface repair is at fault. They are purchasing and replacing the bench and bollard.
