The crossing guard was almost hit today by a car. He was in the middle of the street directing traffic with his sign in hand. Cars do not stop at the crosswalk. It's really bad, and something needs to be done.

the dept of traffic told me that a flashing light was approved. it was however, never included in any budget and there is no money for it this fiscal year. this news comes to me after about five years of badgering the state, local government, and anyone else who would listen. extremely frustrating, and I's sadly starting to believe a waste of time.

I feel the improvements to Townsend ave ( the new pavement) has made it easier for people to travel faster. Ultimately I feel we need speed bumps and stop signs sooner than later to avoid a child or anyone for that matter being injured or worse. My wife saw our neighbors two children crossing the street after school. No sooner did their feet hit the sidewalk a car flew past their heels going over 50 mph. We need a solution. Quickly.

i tried a few years ago to get a petition signed and didn't have much luck. traffic is out of control. Yesterday I stopped for a woman and her children and the traffic in the opposite lane just kept speeding by without even stopping. There is potential for someone to get seriously injured or worse.

It's never been addressed???
Why close it.
There is no stop sign at or near the school.
People speed up and down Townsend ave constantly.
There needs to be speed bumps in front of the school to slow the pace of cars and motorcycles.

I agree this post from '13 has never been addressed. Five years down the road the problem is worse not better, yet in many neighborhoods in New Haven there are traffic calming measures. I've been paying taxes as a homeowner my entire adultlife and if turns my stomach to know that the residents of this neighborhood, and the children who walk and play in it aren't considered.

Stop sign and speed bumps needed near the entrances of the driveways.
