Description
Intersection of E. Hillsdale and Foster City Blvd.: Street lights going any direction at this intersection require some calibration during non-commute hours and weekends. It doesn’t matter what direction you are trying to go at this intersection, if you’ve got a red light and no other cars in any of the other directions as far as the eye can see. Have sat for more than 5 minutes waiting for the timed signal to give me a green light. Often see frustrated drivers sitting at a red light break down and go through the red light. This also happens at the intersection of Foster City Blvd. and Chess: same problem non-commute hours regardless of what direction you are going at this intersection, I am often the only vehicle at the intersection sitting at a red light and no other cars waiting at any of the other signals, waiting often more than 5 minutes. Need sensors so signals can detect that there is a vehicle there. I see this set up effectively at the intersection of Foster City Blvd. and Balclutha Drive: sensors pick up on left turn lane off Foster City Blvd on to Bslclutha. There is effective pedestrian crossing here as well. There is never a single car waiting at a red light waiting for signals run time for lights to change. For Foster City residents who on a daily basis struggle with commute traffic to get home, there should be consideration for non-commute and weekends to get some relief from sitting at red lights for extended periods of time.
