I wouldn't do it alone. Last year a young female was mugged while running on that trail in broad daylight. For more information speak to Yale PD or New Haven PD

You mean exit at Bassett/Dixwell? Not if you value your life and general well-being. Street gangs occupy the FC here. A mugging would be the least of your worries. Have been told to not even enter the FC until Treadwell.

I think it would exit around Willis St. or Bassett. That's unfortunate to hear that it's probably not safe. It's a shame the city has such a resource that can't be taken advantage of. The other day I went to the end of Sachem and saw what looked to be patrol men either from Yale or perhaps Science Park, but I wasn't sure how far they extended down the trail. Thanks for your input everyone! Perhaps groups of residents could get together to ride down the trail-- more people using it would hopefully drive crime.

Groups do not fare much better. Was told of a mixed group (m/f) riding, the women were verbally harrassed with catcalls. Apparently the thugs found the men insignificant.

This issue is not a traffic enforcement issue. However. the trail has call boxes, lighting and a high volume of traffic...and increased NHPD patrol. Thank you.

What does a person's race have to do with the level of safety on the trail?

If you have no street smarts, stay out of the hood. Y'all have Yale and East Rock. No need to further encroach on where the neighborhoods where working folk live.
