Also, the person who issued the case purchased in 2007 and the person cutting the driveway purchased in 2012. Way to troll bro.

As a neighbor to both of you, I think the complainer here needs to move past this. You haven't been there 50 years and cannot verify the shared driveway. Do some simple real estate law research. You are pointing out their mean spiritedness but so is your complaint. Double standard? I don't have a dog in this fight, just pointing out a few obvious things from reading this post. Also, after reading this and driving by your house looks like you have the option of parking at your house without their driveway if you use the other side. I am sure this post won't be well received but just hoping to provide an unbiased perspective.

Well Becky, I appreciate the illuminating, "unbiased" perspective. However, if you did some simple real estate law research you would know a prescriptive easement requires 20 years of continuous use, not 50. A simple look at house numbers and a deed search proves this. And if I were to use the other side, should I apply for driveway cut permit, or should I just drive over the curb? Maybe you should have a look at the property line that runs up the driveway before you take sides.

when i moved here i was the minority. i appreciated that. my 98 yo neighbor Claudia did too. she lived in 717. she told me we were the first white people she had seen in the neighborhood in years. she was one of the sweetest, toughest, most independent woman i have ever met. her 3 daughters are preachers and on sundays both of our backyards filled with family and friends. i feel like this situation is a desecration to her memory. it makes me want to move far away from here. but i believe in Raleigh.

An inspector from the Transportation Field Services Division have been by the site as well as spoken with other city staff who has been in contact with the owner of the subject property. In this particular case a permit would not be required as no work is being done within the E Hargett Street right-of-way as the right-of-way line is coincident with the back of the sidewalk. Based on the fact that no work has occurred in the right-of-way, no permits are required at this time; should any work be required in the right-of-way permits will be required. At this point the matter is a civil matter between the two property owners.

I believe that's a separate issue you should handle personally with the Transportation Field Services division rather than through snide remarks on SeeClickFix. The City diligently looked into your issues and found no problem, anything outside of that can be addressed on your own by calling the City directly at 919-996-2500.
