Why was this property abated by the city inspector?
Residents on the block say the sidewalk on the side of the house is still a mess.
Why is it acceptable for this property owner to be allowed to have sidewalks in this condition?
This time line has been thrown way off track due to COVID-19. Our apologies. After the first inspection, we give the owner 4 weeks until the next inspection (this allows for time for processing and sending a notice of violation). If the issue is not abated, then we will reinspect two weeks after that date. If still not abated, summonses are issued and the matter is handled by the Municipal Court, which can levy fines and issue legal decisions. This is the general process and we are unable to give a specific date given current circumstances.
We are definitely working our hardest though to get this resolved. We completely understand that this is a matter that should be resolved and the owner should never have allowed to happen.
Please reassign to Morgan. Housing Code has this property listed as vacant. Violation previously issued by this office was closed as property is vacant.

So the building is not vacant, therefore the sidewalks must be repaired by property owner, if I understand correctly.
