Description
The pavement is badly warped - like a sine curve - at the north end of Boston Ave. This is caused by extreme heat, not just by cars waiting at the stop sign, but also busses.
I have suggested to the MBTA that the 94 bus use Harvard Ave. instead of going all the way to the end of Boston Ave. Furthermore, I have suggested that there be a sign at Harvard Ave. (near the West Medford Depot) pointing to "East Arlington." I see this as a first step to re-routing Route 60 so that traffic arrives at Route 2 in East Arlington.

As elaborated in comments today in another Issue (# 8045245) the roads in this vicinity could be modified.
Then, there would be no High Street to turn right onto – at this intersection of Boston Ave. and High Street – because High Street would be converted to a pedestrian mall and parking east of this intersection, perhaps as far as the West Medford railroad crossing.
With these changes, a Stop sign at the end of Boston Ave. would no longer be necessary, thus eliminating the cause of the problem of heat induced severe pavement buckling: long wait times at the Stop sign, especially by buses waiting to make a left turn.
The MBTA 80 bus could continue to turn left here (from Boston Ave onto High Street) but it would now only stop for the purpose of picking up and/or discharging passengers at the Bus Stop there. But it would not have to stop simply before turning left onto High Street because the Stop sign would be eliminated.
The MBTA 94 bus – which presently also passes this point – would have its route changed somewhat in the vicinity: the MBTA 94 bus would take what currently would be a "short cut" onto Boston Ave. The MBTA 94 bus – toward Davis Square, Somerville – would turn left onto Harvard Ave. and then left again onto Boston Ave. because the conversion of High Street in the vicinity of 520 High Street into parking and a pedestrian mall would supersede its existing route. Similarly, the MBTA 94 bus from Davis Square would turn right onto Harvard Ave. and then right again onto High Street.
Each resulting segment of the bisected High Street could be renamed.
