I agree with Bill. If the sneakers are a concern regarding damage to the wires, or you don't like the aesthetic. I would notify National Grid, Verizon or Time Warner. National Grid's wires are usually the highest, followed by Verizon then Time Warner.

I am a high school teacher who has been to a day-long workshop about gangs. Even if it is just a prank, it does make it look like we have gangs in our town. If this is the type of thing that our town wants to encourage, then by all means, close the issue and let the sneakers stay. If you really want to address problems in the town with this website to make the town a better place, then fix the problem.

Dear Anonymous, The town has no jurisdiction or authority in removing objects from utilities. The state, county and towns grant easements on their rights-of-way to the utilities. It is easy to say that the Town is responsible. If you are truly interested in fixing this issue, please take a picture of the sneakers with their relative position to all the other wires on the pole. Once we determine which utility is responsible we can notify them of the issue. There are many employees of these companies in our Town that can point us in the right direction.
