Description
I don't get into Richmond all that often. Yesterday I parked at a meter, fed in the coins and spent a little over 2 hours at the State Corporation Commission and paid $65 for the services they rendered. I realized time was running out so I went back out and put more coins in the meter. When I came out after 11 a.m., I was greeted with a $20 parking ticket (with time still on the meter by the way). They marked my tire 8:50 a.m. and cited me at 11 a.m. How was I to know you could not put more money in the meter? There were at least 3-4 open parking spaces nearby so this wasn't a heavily packed street! If the Mayor's office wonders why people don't like to do business in Richmond, here's a good reason why. I will pay the fine because I'd probably get another one if I came back to contest it. But I'll do my best to avoid coming into the city again anytime soon. I travel all over the state and try to obey the local laws but it always seems like Richmond City is the one place always out to get you.

I know what you mean. We have had clients and vendors with the same situation.
The parking system is nothing more than crooks. I see the meter attendants marking chalk on the tires all down Cary. Misreading a chalk mark is one thing but totally missing a meter with time still on it is unacceptable.
I agree-- something needs to be done!

12/28/2012 - Service Review: Thanks so much for expressing your very important concern to the City of Richmond government. Since this time at March 2011, the City of Richmond has managed to revamp its parking meter system and also has become even more expressive in notifying its customers that vehicles must be moved when the parking meter time runs out.
