Description
The pedestrian crossing signal on the north side of main street for pedestrians needing to cross Main St. (near University place) does not work. Button does not light up to indicate that it has been pushed. South side button functions, but pedestrians having to wait TOO LONG to be able to cross. Can the north side be fixed, and the interval shortened for having to wait? Especially as colder weather approaches, pedestrians shouldn't have to wait so long.

Found the button this morning as described. Although it appeared unresponsive, without LED or "Wait" message, it did put a call into the controller and cause it to change to walk. Will have to discuss with our technician when he gets back from vacation the state this was in when it was installed. Programmed it to get to a basic level of operation, which should now match the other side.
This is one of four closely coordinated signals between the jug handle, which has cycles up to 120 seconds, and South Prospect, which runs variable, but similar cycles. These four intersections run a cycle of 75 seconds, which is very short given the volume of traffic travelling through them from either end, and is only 5 seconds longer than the shortest cycle we currently run. We should be very glad this short cycle length works given the major volume of traffic coming in and out of Burlington on this busy corridor. Two-way (east-west) coordination and heavy traffic usually equals longer cycle lengths. The Department of Public Works has resolved this request. Thanks for helping to keep Burlington a great place to live and work.
