Description

This individual has been residing in a tent on Bond Street at the corner of High Street for at least the past month. There is litter, debris and broken furniture accumulating around the tent.
It is requested that the City of Oakland have the occupant vacate the area.
On October 8, 2019, at a Public Safety Committee meeting, the City of Oakland's Assistant City Administrator announced the enforcement of the closure of an encampment in this exact location. This was after five months of letter writing, complaints being filed with the City of Oakland by neighboring residents, students and parents of a school on the same block, business owners and houses of worship. This resulted in the community finally getting a public hearing placed on the agenda of the Rules and Legislation Committee on October 8, 2019.
The encampment was dismantled and closed on November 19, 2019, and notices posted that this type of activity could not resume. Residents, school officials and businesses were assured that if this problem emerged again that the City of Oakland and Oakland PD could take action to stop it. Please have someone to address this issue and clear the area.
