The Water Department will investigate this situation. Through our prior visits over the past, a noticeable appearance of water in the gutter-line has been present after a rain event. By testing this stream for water treatment residuals, and leak detection surveys has changed the outlook from drinking water to storm water runoff once the system is overwhelmed from the higher elevations from Summer Street Extension and the Middlesex Reservation Water Shed this stream re-appears. How does this address this issue going forward is the main concern. Our department will attempt to clear and clean the catchment system in order to create more volume within the system to direct water velocities towards areas that will not cause public nuisance and safety concerns also we will combine these efforts with monitoring in order to be pro-active to address those issues.
