Malden, MA assigned this issue to Yem Lip (Director of Engineering)

Investigations performed by Contractor revealed tree roots within the sewer lateral on the property. A repair was made by the contractor at the sidewalk while relaying the water service and while section of sewer lateral was open, roots were present upstream. Visual inspection was also performed on the street side of lateral and appeared clear. Contractor suggested of homeowner to have lateral section on property cleared of tree roots.

Contractor was contacted by homeowner. Responded quickly to repair the problem today within a few hours.
