ELLICOTT CITY, MD – A developer project to install a sewer and manhole near 5635 Furnace Avenue in Elkridge, is expected to begin on or about Monday, November 30th. The project will include the digging of a 13- by 15-foot trench in order to install a new manhole in the roadway as part of the new HUD-funded River Watch II housing project’s tie-in to the County’s public sewer system. Weather permitting, the project is expected to be completed within one week.

During the project, Furnace Avenue between Bushwacker Way and Railroad Avenue will be closed to all vehicular and pedestrian traffic. Vehicular traffic will follow a clearly marked detour using Main Street and Railroad Avenue. Signs will be posted at the project site to advise motorists and pedestrians of the road closure. Additionally, a recorded message at 410-313-3639 will carry project updates.

Additionally, while the County and its transportation partners work hard to maintain safe traffic mobility in work zones, drivers are reminded to stay alert and look for reduced speed limits, narrow driving lanes and highway workers. Please slow down and don’t follow too closely when traveling through a work zone. Remember, work zone safety is in your hands.
