Today, MLK Day of Service 75 of us volunteers worked for hours picking up trash and litter on G Street btwm 85th- 92nd Aves and filled 129 bags of trash. On Saturday, bulk items were picked up. So at 1pm, G Street was clean!!!
Whomever is disrespecting with illegal dumping will be surprised when their butts are caught, exposed and held accountable.

That is so wonderful that you did that major cleanup! Thank you all! I am so sad and disgusted to hear some disrespectful person came along and dumped all that stuff this evening.

I'm so sorry. I would love to sit down with illegal dumpers and ask why they think it's okay to treat our streets like a garbage dump. Don't want to drive to the dump and pay dump fees so trash your city? Just expect others to endlessly pick up after you? Never picked up after yourself as a kid? It makes me feel sick and angry.

Yes, this is so sad but not surprising. With the 130+ bags along G street that were collected today that will be picked up tomorrow by Public Works, we can expect dumpers to add to it tonight for sure. BUT we need a solution to this despicable problem. These people are just ignorant!

We will be discussing the wonderful MLK Day of Service event and possible solutions to illegal dumping at this site on Friday, 1/24 at 6pm at Allen Temple Church, 2nd Floor.

Since Councilmember at-Large Rebecca Kaplan is Chairperson of the Oakland City Council Public Works Committee, It would be good to invite her to one of the monthly meetings to discuss illegal dumping.

I am a homeowner near 87th ave & G street , I would like to thank everyone who came out on MLK day to clean up G street what a mess, I wonder why the City can install red-light cameras to catch people running red lights but not install cameras in problem Illegal dumping areas like G street, Illegal dumping on G street has been going on for many years. I believe that it is the same people that have found a good place to dump and the City is doing nothing at this point to stop it, what a shame.

Use the 10.9 million dollar Domain Awareness Center surveillance cameras to deter and catch illegal dumpers.
