If there is any doubt that the new meters are mounted too high
for use by shorter people I would ask that someone do a run by
Chapel Street near Yale Rep and personally check this out. In
addition, as suddenly ticketing is being more aggressively enforced at this time, it seems to be a set-up for more problems
keeping meters filled. Issue should NOT be closed.

Some of the meters are too tall to be useable by shorter drivers.
If they were mounted incorrectly, tickets should not be given at those meters.

I agree that the meters posted on Chapel Street are quite high. I, as a Chapel Street employee, have received numerous complaints from customers surrounding this issue. I actually went outside to assist a customer with the meter, and at 5'3" had difficulty reading the meter and how much time was actually deposited into it. Furthermore, I think that the new meters should be accepting the park smart cards as many customers and employees have this and I hate to see that money wasted on meters that do not accept this as a valid form of payment. While I do agree that the parking meters accepting credit cards are definitely convenient, it should not exclude those who are short or have the park smart card.

It has been noted concerning meter height. As far as the ParkSmart card is concerned, these meters are in a trial run. If the city does incorporate them on a permenant basis, the card will be accepted, but for now, the public will have to be patient during the trial period.
