We have already seen an extra two feet of Tree canopy removed this past year to make room for new garbage recycling trucks. They never contacted the public who live on our canopy roads.The TREE ADVISORY committee went ahead without any citizen input here on Siesta KEyl.
I would not like to see more taken anytime soon. Instead trucks have options to locate strategically and since they now have two extra feet of passage, it should be ok IF they aren't reckless.

We have already approached the Supervisors about the Garbage trucks which were purchased AFTER they realized the garbage bins were too heavy for individual to lift onto trucks. Next came trucks, then came the loss of beautiful tree canopy and healthy limbs. I watched the day they did it on Oxford. PLEASE don't take more healthy tree limbs which slow the rain from flooding our streets --we have no place for the water to go when the canals are full at high tide. Catherine Luckner here...

Sounds like a good effort for SKA to get involved Catherine. What is your role in that? How or does SKA do anything to support our community in this area?

Oh yes We started much work initially in 2011 to protect the old Oaks - Canopy Roads. It's the large Oaks that are protected by Canopy Road status. The county is supposed clean debris from our road out of the canals.Healthy oak limbs are protected. Not debris from palms, dead brush, etc sorry If I misunderstood what you were thinking of earlier.
