I’ve noticed the amount of people abusing alcohol and drugs congregating on West Side Ave & Boyd Ave. There’s been numerous times I’ve seen people passed out on this intersection. This community has been improving throughout the years but we need more police presence and neighbors coming together to eliminate these situations for our well-being and our families. Has anyone brought this issue to this city? When will the city start focusing on the west side area to help improve our community and most importantly, bring resources & help to these individuals in need?

This issue along with the many panhandlers on this stretch has been brought up many times with no resolution. With the weather warming up, there are more panhandlers and loitering on West Side from Ege all the way to Communipaw. The busiest for these folks are on the corner of Boyd & West Side, the post office and Bravo/Dunkin' donuts. I can't even take my kids to Dairy Queen without being approached for money or having to deal with the stench of urine in the street. Can the city provide some assistance to help these folks out? Policing alone isn't the answer because they will still come back again. They need help.

I too, notice these problems and am always shocked how the city continues to ignore the situation. The Mayor & Council can close their eyes to it, but that doesn't mean it goes away. I feel badly for business owners on that stretch because more & more of us shoppers avoid that area completely, it feels like shopping on a skid row and being asked for cash every two minutes is not anyone's idea of a nice day out. Jersey City has potential yet at times, it seems like a hopeless place where things will never change

That guy is the photo is not homeless like he say's he is.
Everyday he always have on new clothes.
One day I heard him tell someone that he lives with his grandmother on Ocean Ave.
But everyday he bugs me for cigs and money.

I have seen him a few times later in the day, after he's done harassing pedestrians walking south down the Blvd.
It amazes me that the police don't chase him away.
He drinks alcohol in front of the post office then @#$% across the street on William's ave on that box. He purchases drugs from that other dude pictured.
I call the police many times but as we see, he is always there loitering!

What about the females just sitting on the stoop of the old bar on Boyd almost every day. The smoke, leave their trash and harass people walking by. Anyone catch a pic of them? lol What ever happened to the plans of the West Side SID? https://jerseycitynj.gov/community/west_side_avenue_sid
I also read about some meeting where folks could provide some input for another project but the are highlighted was only from Stegman to Virginia.

Such a shame, the West Side SID seemed like a good idea but conditions there have been becoming progressively worse. Police know, do nothing, city council knows, does nothing, mayor knows, does nothing. There are decent families there that pay taxes, yet must endure living among zombies on trash-littered streets. It's all so unfair ...

Here's more pictures of people up to no good on boyd ave and west side. I suggest the city put a speed hump on boyd ave between West Side and Kennedy Blvd. Just a few weeks ago a car was flying up boyd ave and hit a parked vehicle. The traffic and loud noise has been another issue in this area. The three guys sitting on the corner immediately got up and left once I started taking a picture. The area has also been filled with garbage on the street that needs to be addressed immediately.

Here we are over a year later and nothing has changed with loiterer, panhandlers and more graffiti. If anything I’ve noticed even more! At least we have pretty flowers on almost every corner. Is the West Side SID ever going to happen? Would be nice to have more restaurant/take out places.
