Today is street sweeping.
I am a resident that pays taxes on my vehicle, and there is no place to park my own car. There are 14 cars parked on a single side of the street, and only 4 of them have resident stickers. The rest are "Visitors."
Most of these "Visitors" actually rent and live here, but they don't pay vehicle taxes.
This system does not work, year after year after year after year after year. I know it is pointless to complain, time has shown me that, but I do it because I want to keep in practice for the day I move somewhere where citizens' input is acted on to improve life for everyone.

Streets were never swept.
We were asked to move cars for street sweeping on Tuesday, but the streets were not swept.
The bigger problem is that because there is no enforcement of the rules not to rake leaves into the street, several homeowners did leave big piles of leaves in the gutter, which are now clogging drains and blowing into the yards of neighbors who were considerate enough to bag their leaves properly, instead of being selfish.
So one problem compounded by another. So many problems in the city are caused by lack of enforcement about these quality of life neighborhood issues. It is why so many of us voted out the current mayor. We can only hope for better.

When Yale students moved out they threw this filthy garbage out, 5 days before trash pickup. I saw a RAT in it last night. Please get the owner or the city to clean this up immediately!

The city really couldn't pick this up? Really? One bag of leaves, one neatly tied up bundle of twigs. This is the second time they have a tiny pickup of yard waste, when we are following all the rules. meanwhile, they pick up any sort of junk that the Yale owned houses on Mansfield put out, and Yale doesn't pay property taxes like we do. What gives?

Cars still parked on odd side on Mansfield and Woodland, plows swinging around them creating more piles of snow that will fill up more parking spaces. We need enforcement of the ban! Why so you let this happen every year?

we put out 3 half bags of leaves, and three small bundles of clippings, all the way the city requires. Why couldn't they be picked up? Can they be picked up this week, before more snow or rain? Oh, too late, it's pouring out.

The Zone 7 signs and the no parking here to corner signs have not been replaced after sidewalk replacement. Now people are parking next to the corner, and it is going to cause an accident, because you can't see to the left on Winchester when you turn.

The parking signs that were removed for sidewalk replacement need to be put back. The south side of the street has no parking or zone signs along the bottom third near winchester. Is that in the works?

Since this house was bought by investors, the yard has not been maintained for a long time. The leaves were never raked in the fall or the spring. Nothing was cleaned till July, but maintenance is not done regularly, and the grass and weeks are making our neighborhood look crappy.

We demand that our neighbors keep up their property! How would YOU like to live next to this?

3 days ago the street sweeper truck broke down, spilling some kind of lubricant in the street and in the grass strip. they lay down some dirt, but is has still not been cleaned. Today it will rain and wash into the storm drain and into the Sound. This needs to be cleaned up properly, and the contaminated soil on the grass strip should be removed. This is an environmental hazard and the state REP should have gotten a report.

Every day the people in this house start piling up trash and recycling in front of the house. Garbage is usually not even bagged right, and recycling is just thrown around. This is most days of the week that we get the pleasure of looking at their garbage. There isn't too much yet, because it is only two days after garbage pickup. Just wait...
