Notified About

  • 1428 E. 57th Street Chicago/Cook, IL - Hyde Park
The northwest corner of the intersection of Blackstone Ave. & 57th Street turns into a small lake, about 4 inches deep, whenever it rains or snow melts; then freezes over and creates a slipping hazard; last year at least one broken ankle occurred. The sewer drain does not accept the water and is more than likely broken. The water covers an area 10 feet across and children have to walk in the street to make it to the other side.
  • 57th And Blackstone Chicago, IL - Hyde Park
Serious water problem flooding intersection, frequently impassable and icy
  • 5701 S. Dorchester Ave Chicago, Illinois - Hyde Park
  • 5617 S. Dorchester Avenue Chicago, Illinois - Hyde Park
The manhole/storm drain which was installed last summer at the east side of the street by a private contractor for the city water main replacement along Dorchester Avenue has proven to be a drainage problem. The drain is located adjacent to curb cuts for driveways and drains so slowly that the sidewalk becomes impassible at times (there is no parkway along Dorchester, the sidewalk is immediately adjacent to the street) and has gotten to the point that the entire width of the street is flooded, overwhelming the drain on the west side of the street which is directly west of the the drain in question. The pitch to the drains is excellent unlike on Blackstone and 57th Street, the issue here is ease of clogs at the new drain and slow drainage after clearing it (I have cleared both drains frequently to hasten drainage during our recent storms). This was not a problem before the drain was modified.

Sinkhole. Collapsing manhole cover. Approximately 8 in. deep and 24 in. in diameter
  • 6915 South Crandon Avenue Chicago, Illinois - South Shore
There are two abandon buildings located on South Oglesby (6915-14 S.) These buildings are located right next to each other. There are individuals removing the contents, i.e., windows, doors, and so on. They have placed several mattresses in the alley, and all sorts of rubbish (starting at the gate next to the two abandon garages in the 6915 Oglesby/Crandon Alley. This is starting to become an eyesore and a problem. I would like to know if they have building permits to remove the contents. If they have a permit from the City of Chicago why don't they have a dumpster to discard the trash in.???
