  • Conant Rd Watertown, Massachusetts, 02472 - Watertown
We have been reporting this for over two years now. It’s a mess and it’s a hazard that could potentially turn into a sinkhole. The town “fixed” it and made it worse three years ago. I will be contacting the city every week for the rest of the year until our street is replaced correctly. It hasn’t been paved in over 37 years.
  • 138 Winsor Avenue Watertown, Massachusetts, 02472 - Watertown
cemente broken around manhole possible sinking
  • 49 Lovell Road Watertown, Massachusetts, 02472 - Watertown
The entire length of Lovell Road was finally repaved…thanks! However, the seam in the midddle of the road is already starting to show signs of degrading. It seems that the work performed by the contractor was pretty shoddy. Might make sense to inspect the road top to bottom and repair the cracks already forming before the investment in the repair goes to waste. I’ve noticed quite a bit of new sidewalk crumbling throughout the city as well. Results of a “lowest bid” contractor policy?
  • Mile 149.6 Us Hwy 20 W Watertown Town, MA, 02458, USA - Watertown

I am writing to bring to your immediate attention a concern regarding improper drainage on the bike paths on Arsenal and Taylor Streets, which has created a hazardous condition for cyclists and pedestrians. Today I was biking along both of these paths. Along sections of both of these paths, I observed standing water blocking the entire path. This standing water has made portions of the path slippery and unsafe, posing a significant risk of accidents for users including bicyclists. These sections of path would be entirely impassable by a person with a wheelchair and would cause significant danger to any pedestrian in a vulnerable situation, due to the lack of traction.

Given the potential safety risks involved, I urge the city to take the following actions:
    • Inspect and repair the drainage system along Watertown bike paths to ensure proper water flow and prevent pooling.
    • Consider resurfacing sections with pooling water to angle the path to prevent water pooling after snow and rain
    • Install drainage grates along the side of the path where water pools to drain the water
Please consider this notice of the potential hazard. I'm more than happy to provide more details about the hazard if you have any questions.

As you can see in the photo, much of the road is worn away. Big hole on the right; I cannot pull in or out of my driveway without hitting it.

Image to clarify the area of concern. When trucks hit this pothole at speed, it shakes the adjacent buildings.
