Description
The blocks of Broadway between Otis and Shoreline are unsafe, particularly on weekends due to motorists speeding. It is chronic and has been a problem for sometime. Also there are many pedestrians of all ages and physical abilities walking in this area, almost all daylight hours and early evening. Most are walking to and from the beach and bird sanctuary. Also there is a stop sign at Bayview and Broadway, it is common to see people just drive through without stopping or looking. There are two crosswalks at that intersection

Thank you for reporting your concerns about street safety in Alameda. Your report will help inform the City of Alameda’s work to achieve our Vision Zero goal of eliminating traffic fatalities and severe injuries. We will use street safety reports, including yours, in combination with crash data and equity indicators to prioritize and design street safety investments. This evaluation will generally happen on an annual basis, with some exceptions for clear and pressing trends. Issues that the City deems to be immediate safety concerns will be elevated for quick action.

Nearly two and half years from the posting above and nothing has been done aside from responding with the same boilerplate message.
That must be what the “zero” means in Vision Zero.
