Description

Speeds are too high. To reduce speeds and make it easier for pedestrians to cross, curb return radii should be reduced at each corner; lanes narrowed, and textured crosswalks added. Visibility in some sections is poor due to poles; sidewalks may need to be widened in such locations. Also, drivers frequently turn right on red, barely even stopping. This needs to be fixed by moving stop lines back and rigorously enforcing the laws designed to keep pedestrians safe. This is not just a safety issue; the condition of the intersection makes it much more difficult for people to walk to work (or to class) through this section of downtown.
