This is SO dangerous and causing tremendous smoke issues in everyone's house!. The whole block could burn! Is anyone on seeclickfix paying attention to how many times this address is a problem?! This property owner has been cited repeatedly for all the issues and nothing improves. The city has to notifiy him that these fires are NOT legal and have to stop immediately so he can inform all tenants. Oh please it happens on Lancaster St. All the time. I was told to call 911 and report the address and that there is an open fire pit. And a fire truck will show up. That is your only option! So make sure you call 911 when it is burning 🔥

Burn ban is in effect: “Starting March 16 and ending May 14, New York State prohibits residential brush burning to protect our communities and our natural resources. Since 2009, New York's burn ban has reduced the number of wildfires in our communities and we're looking forward to continuing that trend in 2022."

It seems like no one pays attention to the news, just check out Nebraska, Arizona, Colorado and several other states where fires are causing havoc. It would be very easy for one house to catch and for that to then spread up the row houses and take several out which has happened at least once in the last few years. Apparently people will never learn.

Open fires in Albany is illegal. There are strict rules in place but you must first call 911 when the fire is burning that starts the process trust me I know that I live in Lancaster Street I’ve already gone through the process

A fire Investigator will stop and try to talk to the tenants, but please call 518-438-400 when they start burning so Communications can dispatch a pumper to put out the illegal fire and advise the tenants

A huge challenge in this area is that we can't always determine where the smoke is coming from and, even when we can, the fire department cant access the illegal fire when it's in the backyard of locked apartment buildings with no access other rhan THROUGH the building. It's the same reason police give for not addressing building noise issues (no access to locked apartment buildings). What do you recommend to get resoluton in this instance?

I bet the firemen would find an innovative way to get where they need to be.
