Why is New Haven Public Works doing work on this property?

I saw city crews doing demolition work, and I believe they were with DPW.

The city envisions a redevelopment of this area, which I'm in support of. If their contractors aren't meeting basic standards for safety and environmental protection, then the city needs to take action.

The roofing material, broken glass, and oil slick only add to the feel that this area is a blighted urban wasteland.

Here's a picture of the roofing debris.

And a second picture of the oil slick on the driveway skirt. It's difficult to see, but it has been washed away somewhat over the past few weeks.

DEP, EPA, LCI, and other agencies should take notice of what's going on on River St. It's a mess.

Guy Look Closer, its tire marks. You ever seen a skid steer work, it leaves skid marks and dirt marks. Way to blow it out of proportion.

Any updates on whether this was secured?
