I’m sorry!! Yesterday at the event in Pershing field I witnessed an older women and young child trying to cross the street- lights flashing- and the moment they put a foot in the crosswalk almost got hit. The car honked at them!! They did nothing wrong! Someone certainly will get hurt and then it will be too late. I get so worried for children here. Putting traffic lights near schools and parks seems like a no brainer… the city also said they would up police presence there to catch speeders and aggressive drivers in the meantime but haven’t seen that at all..
traffic signal should be added at booraem and central, booraem and palisade (that’s most dangerous) and central and reservoir. Also confusing why there’s a traffic signal at prospect and Jefferson and central when there’s hardly people crossing there. So if there why not a heavily trafficked park with children??

The Department will evaluate the installation of curb extensions at this location to enhance the visibility of pedestrians.

What would work best is a speed bump at the crosswalk. Curb extensions would help people turning from booraem onto central but the problem with pedestrians getting hit is cars already on central going through. Not sure how a curb extension will help that..we need a speed bump or a traffic light

People speed on central and that is the problem. and we were told a police presence would be there in the meantime and they have never been there period. A car parked there during morning and evening rush hour would be a start
