Description
Driving east on Chesnut…try making a right turn onto clement. When cars are parked on clement (in front of spank salon) it is essentially a blind turn. It is so dangerous pulling out into traffic and not being able to see cars coming from the left. You try it.

Thank you for reporting your concerns about street safety in Alameda. As part of the Clement Ave Improvements Project, the intersection of Clement and Chestnut will have “floating islands” that block vehicles from parking 20 feet from marked crosswalks, increasing safety and visibility. Construction on this section will begin early next year. For more information, see www.AlamedaCA.gov/Clement.
Your report will help inform the City of Alameda’s work to achieve our Vision Zero goal of eliminating traffic fatalities and severe injuries. We will use street safety reports, including yours, in combination with crash data and equity indicators to prioritize and design street safety investments. This evaluation will generally happen on an annual basis, with some exceptions for clear and pressing trends. Issues that the City deems to be immediate safety concerns will be elevated for quick action.
