Descripción
The quantity of birds and bird crap at this corner continues to grow. The birds crap on people as they wait at the light. Maybe when animal control visited in October it was after a rain but this pic was taken the day before yesterday. The crossing guard says she gets crapped on every day she is on duty.

Someone must be feeding them.
They congregate where they’re fed.
I see rice in the tree pits by central square market every time I pass there.
Catch the feeder and give them a ticket, the birds will stop coming to the area.

Thank you for reporting an issue to the City of Jersey City. This is a duplicate of #13577366. That location was visited just two weeks ago and no issue was found. At that time, a city maintenance worker also noted that they did not find an issue at the location. A member of the Animal Response Team will visit again when not on emergency/priority calls.
It is against municipal ordinance to feed the pigeons and to create a nuisance. An offender would need to be identified in order to issue a summons. If you have additional information, please contact the Animal Response Team at 201-547-4888.

If the neighborhood would stop feeding them, there would be much less of a problem.
I see bread and rice strewn about in many places in a misguided attempt to help the animals.
Especially bad along Bergen from Montgomery to Vroom.

Pigeons are flying rats that spread so much disease and the pigeons in that area are growing in larger numbers because the birds and future offspring will continue to go to a safe food source. The problem is only going to get progressively worse.
When an inspector is sent, please speak with the crossing guard or a school official. If it's a business or resident feeding these flying rats, of course they won't admit it! So please ask the crossing guard.
And thank you jsqmkm, we all need to contact Stacey Lea Flanagan, Director of Health and Human Services. It's the only way this issue will get resolved. Also include in the email the local councilman, who i believe is Boggiano for that area.

An ART visit to the intersection yesterday afternoon at 4pm again showed no issue. No birds visible, no sign of bird feces, no indication of nuisance behavior.
Summonses can be issued for nuisance behavior if the person creating the nuisance is identified. If you have information on who is creating a nuisance, please call the Animal Response Team at 201-547-4888 Monday-Saturday 8:30am-4:30pm
