Description
I hold the lease for 5998 Telegraph Ave in Oakland and am trying to run a business. There is a group of 3-5 individuals living in an old chuch bus, an old RV, a white volvo station wagon and a maroon Land Rover along the front of my warehouse on Telegraph Ave between McCauley and 60th St. They have been here without moving the vehicles for at least six months. They leave trash on the sidewalks. I have found hypodermic needles and seen elicit drug activity. They go through the donation bin and leave clothes and debris across the parking lot of my building.

Oakland City Council unanimously voted to approve the Encampment Management Policy, meant to “protect and serve all Oaklanders, sheltered and unsheltered, and to manage the adverse impacts of homeless camps by balancing the interests of all residents (i.e. unhoused, housed, business community).” In fact, this policy was intended to reinforce laws that are already in existence in Oakland, but that are not being enforced by the city.
It is now March 2023.

To dre@oaklandca.gov, Darlene Flynn. Director, Department of Race and Equity.
City of Oakland - Department of Race and Equity -- October 2016.
2.29.170.2 B.2.Community and public safety that includes services such as fire, police, emergency medical services and code enforcement that are responsive to all residents so that everyone feels safe to live, work and play in any neighborhood in Oakland;
The disproportionate burden of environmental degradation upon the residents is ZIP CODE DISCRIMINATION.
It is not good for one's well being to be constantly subjected to piles of garbage, filth, graffiti, homelessness, human feces, hypodermic needles, crime, abandoned vehicles, some burnt out .......
Why is your department allowing this after nearly 6 years since the City of Oakland launched the Department of Race and Equity?
We want everyone to feel safe to live, work and play in any neighborhood in Oakland;
