Thank you for reporting one or more vehicles abandoned on Oakland streets. We depend on your reports to help us identify and efficiently remove these vehicles.
The recent ransomware attack on the City of Oakland severely impacted our service request system. Additionally, the Department of Transportation (OakDOT) has recently taken over the Abandoned Auto program from the Oakland Police Department (OPD). For these reasons, we are closing all Abandoned Auto requests and starting with a clean slate effective Monday, May 1, 2023.
If you would like to report an abandoned vehicle, please submit a new request. When reporting abandoned vehicles, you can help OakDOT help you by providing the following:
• The address where we can find the abandoned vehicle (a specific address is better than an intersection)
• A clear photo or photos of the vehicle (a picture is worth a 1,000 words)
• Vehicle license plate (if available, this information can be very helpful)
• The vehicle make, model, and color
• The condition of the vehicle (e.g., inoperable, severely damaged, burned out, etc.)
OakDOT will prioritize requests that concern blighted vehicles and requests from those neighborhoods in East Oakland and West Oakland that have been especially hard hit by illegal dumping, violence and “truly” abandoned vehicles.
