I have no issue moving my vehicle. Lord knows I'm all for street cleaning. ( Unlike East Rock, we only get it done once a year!) My issue is that they don't tell you anything. They just tow. Interestingly, they didn't tow the vehicles parked illegally on the wrong side of the street.

I as at an Auto Dismantling yard a week ago. Some call it a junkyard,some say there's nothing but a bunch of @#*^ in there. But the load of crushed cars on the semi trailer was pathetic,only a few unrecognizable flattened little cars,not like i recall 20 years ago with the bigger autos giving it some weight.One worker,possibly owner was pretty incensed about the lack of cars to be crushed and "just nobody is junking them". I remember tow yards was another way for the junkyards to obtain these autos
AFTER a tow yard has a car/truck/suv for 30 days they own it. Towed by them for a variety of reasons,pulled over by the police for the usual,Misuse of plates,no insurance,no registration,police finding stolen cars that the insurance company totals due to being stripped by the perpetrators,abandoned autos - and the tow yard gets cars from street sweeping,sometimes students actually let them keep it.

I see they sent this to the Public Works Dept. Cowards. I called and left a message for one.Operations manager. Typical civil servant collecting his pay for doing nothing at the expense of tax payers. Never had the courtesy to return my call.

We don't rate that. Only East Rock. Apparently, we pay less taxes. Succession now!

My sons car wasalso towed. The posted signs say sweeping from April to November, he was towed on December 14TH!! Who sweeps street in December when they are putting down sand for ice and snow! It's a scam for sure and costly

Signs for street sweeping are put up at least one day in advance. Since the City started paper-posting all routes, the number of cars towed annually for sweeping has decreased from over 20,000 in 2006 to 4,237 in 2012. This year, we have also started using our "reverse-911" system to notify people. Our goal is not to tow cars, but to clean the streets.

Street sweeping in November and occasionally into December is done to clean leaves off of the streets. Depending on how the weather cooperates and how many leaves are on particular streets, it can run pretty late.
