City of Vallejo assigned this issue to City of Vallejo Maintenance Admin

There needs to be cameras or speed bumps put in areas where this dangerous activity is happening. I was walking my dog in the daytime when a car did this right next to me and my dog. I was lucky the car did not loose control and hit me.

My partner and i heard the sound of cars doing doughnuts and walked to the corner of Catalina Way and Meadows Drive, only to witness cars coming from the Catalina Circle aka Cabana Isle subdivision to join in the spinning and/or take videos. A few cars was planning to do doughnuts at intersection where we were standing but decided not to when they saw the look on our faces and the verbal disapprovals we expressed. This activity has gotten out of hand and nothing is being done to reduce the size of our streets, especially wide streets in residential areas. I question our District 2 council member Diosdado "Jr" Matulac's commitment to the community that put him in office. I wrote him an email citing the increase in this illegal activity. Nothing! Is it time for us, as a community to join together and call for a meeting with Mr. Matulac. I think so. What do you think? Meadows Drive looks like a war zone.

I spoke with Mr Matulac regarding this issue. He lives in the area and confirmed he also hears the reckless drivers. If it takes several of us to ban together to find a solution I'm all for it. Several homeowners have had property damage due to this behavior. Enough is enough.

This may be an appropriate time for me to include: My contact at the city recently informed me that the Bay Trail extension via Meadows Drive has moved a step closer. The actual project work is supposed to start next Spring. I was told that the contractor has all the approvals, etc and should be making a public announcement about this soon. You must consider this has been an ongoing project for several years now, so "soon" can't be soon enough. They are well aware of our issues and if they do this properly it should go a long ways to discourage this side show activity.

Good point. I have been following the Bay/Vine trail gap closure for years and delighted to hear that the project will start next Spring. I attended the two community meetings held at Dan Min School to learn about the gap closure and funding requirements. I read all the available documents regarding the planned project including road markings, bike lanes, etc. All good. Here's my concern. Nowhere in those documents is there a mentioning about road diets, i.e. narrowing the entire stretch along Meadows Drive to curtail this type of illegal activity. Now, if such wording is specifically noted in the awarded contractor's agreement, i would be another satified community member. However, i don't know the plans. Until i am allowed to access or provided with the details involving road diets or citywide sideshow deterrance projects involving Meadows Drive, i remain skeptical. You should too. I hope the City decides to hold a community meeting and provide us with an update on the project.

I’d come to the meeting. As I said they are brazenly doing these doughnuts in broad daylight. I was lucky I didn’t get hit when walking my dog.
