Students need to use the cross walks properly instead of crossing in the middle of traffic. The Prince Albert Police should be monitering our streets and talking with these students that constantly do this dangerous act.
PA needs to install proper flashing red crosswalk signs like regina has.
Someone is going to get killed at the Carlton crossing...
Even worse is the one by Carnival bingo....I imagine 97% of PA drivers don't even know it's there....let alone watch for pedestrians.
It's not only the students that need to learn to use a crosswalk or green traffic light to get across a street. I've seen adults pull the same stunts as the students do.
They arent doing anything wrong, its not against the law to jay walk. They police could tell them to use the crosswalk but they cant enforce it. And there putting themselves at risk so who cares.
I have seen many people (student age and older) waiting forever at crosswalk on 2nd ave west ( near railway tracks). It is very extremely rare for a vehicle to stop, even when it is bitterly cold and windy. Drivers should be. More aware of people and stopping for them to cross. it could be worse, if they install crosswalk with lights, you could be sitting and waiting for light to turn to green long after the walkers are crossed and gone !
They need to install a bridge accross 15th st. E for people trying to cross the street to get to the new cornerstone area. That is the worst street to cross
I've noticed that on 28th Street cars rarely stop for students or adults and children ever. Very scary. I think we have to step up our driving game and be those students extra eyes and protectors. After all, everyone knows how dangerous it is to be an "invincible" teen.
I think that's a great idea, MrBear. Make it like the one on Central Avenue and College in Saskatoon. People really enjoy crossing that bridge in my opinion . :)
I dunno about a bridge. I see a lot of seniors going to the Cornerstone Mall, on both sides of the street. Not all of them can use stairs easily, I think. And in the winter time, you'd have to shovel the snow off it and make sure it doesn't ice up. I can't see the city spending money on stuff like that when they can't fix potholes or shovel the snow off city-owned property other than City Hall.
